l’une et l’autre
Dirk EichlerAround 100 visitors took the opportunity to experience the works of Monika Geisler and Manuel Heywinkel and visit the photo exhibition “l'une – l'autre” on Saturday, November 8, 2025, and Sunday, November 9, 2025.
The IKIGAI space in Cologne's Agnesviertel district hosted an impressive two-day photo exhibition: “l'une – l'autre” showed how two very different photographic approaches can enrich each other – not through loud contrasts, but through a precisely crafted interplay.

The exhibition juxtaposed two different photographic styles while emphasizing their points of contact. While Monika Geisler works with bold colors, organic forms, and playful motifs, Manuel Heywinkel focuses on minimalist black-and-white photography. Lines, surfaces, and geometric references characterize his motifs; they appear clear, objective, and structured without becoming cold or distant.
Manuel Heywinkel's professional proximity to architecture and construction processes is clearly reflected in this visual language. It was precisely the juxtaposition of the two positions that opened up new perspectives for the exhibition's guests: similarities in structure, rhythm, and composition became apparent and developed a silent dialogue between color and monochrome. The calm interior design of IKIGAI provided a fitting setting for this.

As a cam/b® Premium Partner, Manuel Heywinkel naturally also used the exhibition to highlight the opportunity to purchase some of his photographs through our store..
Overall, “l'une – l'autre” showed how two very different photographic approaches can enrich each other – not through loud contrasts, but through a precisely crafted interplay.
The response was overwhelmingly positive: many guests praised the clear curatorial concept and the discreet, tranquil atmosphere of the exhibition venue..
