125 Jahre Wuppertaler Schwebebahn Festival 2026

Our city’s landmark, the Wuppertal Suspension Railway, is proudly celebrating its 125th anniversary. Under the fitting slogan “In 2026, All of Wuppertal Is the Suspension Railway,” coined by Wuppertal Stadtwerke, this special anniversary is being celebrated throughout the valley.

And the absolute highlight of the festivities is just around the corner: the big family festival at Wuppertal Central Station! On Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., the area around the central station will become the vibrant heart of the anniversary celebration.

Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW) and Wuppertal Marketing GmbH (WMG), the event organizers, have put together a huge program: exciting hands-on activities for the whole family, such as bounce houses and duck fishing - and, of course, plenty of culinary highlights. A highlight not just for kids are the fire department and police emergency vehicles, as well as a WSW bus simulator. Numerous other Wuppertal institutions, such as SV Bayer and Junior Uni Wuppertal, and Wuppertal-based companies will be there, along with the Schwebodrom and the Von der Heydt Museum.

And of course, we won’t miss this event in our hometown either! We’ll be presenting our ART EDITION special edition “125 Years of the Suspension Railway” on-site, right there for you to see and touch up close. We’ve captured the fascination, history, and unique feeling of the suspension railway in an exclusive design.
