Hanging Alu-Dibond pictures

Timo Eichler

Aluminum Dibond pictures are relatively lightweight, but they should still be hung securely. There are several ways to do this:

Wall mount for gluing

For adhesive wall mounts, such as the FISSART 6060 or standard galvanized steel hangers (such as those used in our ART EDITION), it is sufficient to hang them on the wall with a nail or screw. With the FISSART 6060, you also have the option of attaching it to the wall using the screw and conical gear insert supplied. This option is recommended because it makes the picture hang more securely on the wall and also allows you to adjust its height.

Important: If the holder is not pre-assembled and you stick it on yourself, please note that it must be left to rest for at least 12 hours, preferably 24 hours, after sticking it on before you hang up the picture. Ideally, stick the holder to the back of the picture and weigh it down, e.g., with one or more books for 2-4 hours, then remove the weight and leave it to rest for the remaining hours.

Please also note that for some adhesive wall mounts, it is recommended that they be used no later than 1 year after production, as otherwise the adhesive will no longer be at full strength. You can recognize these mounts by the fact that the production date is usually stamped on the back. As a rule, the manufacturer also points this out, e.g., for wall mounts from LEHA.

In addition to the classic adhesive holders and the FISSART holder, there is also the  GalerieGAEKKO System. n addition to wall mounting, this system is also perfect for attaching to smooth surfaces such as tiles, glass, or doors. With this system, the mounting module is attached to the picture by adhesive and the wall hanger is either glued or screwed to the substrate.

It goes without saying that the holder should be attached in the correct position and centered on all systems.

The aluminum rail

An alternative to the adhesive mounts mentioned above is a pre-assembled aluminum rail. Although this is considerably more expensive than adhesive mounts, it provides your picture with a mount that will essentially last forever and allows you to hang the wall picture in a variety of ways.

Tip: When printing images on aluminum Dibond, make sure you select the aluminum rail as well, as retrofitting it is virtually impossible and requires a great deal of technical skill. Our WALL ART Edition are always equipped with an aluminum rail, with the exception of a few items in the current sale or lease returns—in these cases, however, this is noted on the product.

And how do you hang the pictures with aluminum rails? In principle, you could also use two nails, but this is not recommended.

For professional hanging, use either a gallery rail with nylon ropes and picture hooks (e.g., the Mini Leha picture hook set) or our special wall bracket set cam/b for aluminum rails. These are optimized for our own aluminum rails, but can also be used with other types of rails. The advantage here is that the conical design allows you to adjust the height of the wall picture retrospectively by up to +- 4 mm.

We also offer drilling templates for download for our WALL ART pictures to ensure professional installation.
